REAP

The Refugee Empowerment Agricultural Program (REAP), an initiative of the RefugeeResponse, operates at the Ohio City Farm, the largest contiguous urban farm in the nation. Located on Cleveland's west side, directly adjacent to the historic West Side Market, the Ohio City Farm nourishes the community with local food and empowers resettled refugee trainees in Northeast Ohio providing them with employment, education, and training. REAP currently employs fifteen refugee trainees from six countries.  Ultimately, REAP will provide trainees with an employable skill set which will in turn stimulate the region's economic development.

CSA Program

Be a part of something great – participate in TRR's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program! Through the CSA program, you can receive fresh produce from Ohio City Farm each week, as well as donate shares of produce to local families in need. We are now accepting registration for the 2012 REAP CSA program. More information >>

Training Workshops

The primary goal of REAP is to empower the refugee trainees participating in the program by helping them acquire transferrable skills that they can continue to use, long after completing the program. To this end, TRR conducts biweekly workshops with the trainees, led by REAP Director Shawn Belt. These workshops focus on agricultural education, and topics included are:

  • Soils
  • Harvesting
  • Pest control
  • Winter growing
  • Cover cropping
  • Irrigation
